Hi to everyone! I have the following question that I hope someone can answer for me: - In doing Aphrodite quite often now, but I am a bit concerned with the situps. It seems that the nature of the movement puts some friction on the coccyx by going all the way up towards the toes. When I took a crossfit class, they would some sort of a cushion for the lower back, which I don't see in freeletics. I have been doing these situps with two yoga mats and I should clarify that I have never had coccyx problems, but I would not like to risk having them. Does anyone know if your body gets used to it? If you should work the situps a particular way? If there is a risk of injury based on the movement itself? Thank you and it would be most appreciated.
Wow... I've been doing situps for years the same way as described in the freeletics video... I'm fine and have no problems whatsoever. But I'm no doctor or trainer or anything, so maybe not the best person to answer this
Hey, I'm thinking of 2 possible causes: May be your coccyx bone is sticking out a bit more than average, hence the issue on situps. Could be a technique issue. When crunching it's possible that you lift your butt a bit (hence when it hits back the ground coccyx would be the first take the impact) or their is a friction if you move horizontally (i.e. you start doing situps on point A and by the time you finish the repetitions you are at point B) Try recording a video of yourself or if you have a training buddy ask him to look carefully when you perform situps. And it's a *really* good buddy you can ask him to touch your coccyx to see if the bone seems protuberant!
I also felt what you describe as friction on the coccyx. In my case I think it is because for some reason I slowly move backwards when doing the exercise. After 40 or 50 reps I have to return to my starting point because I have moved. Ricardo
